Well folks,
This is probably the only thread I'll ever start in the Crafts section, but what do you think of these?

I reckon they're a winner - Sustainable, Locally sourced, very nearly carbon neutral and also genuine antiques at over 100 years old ;D .
Oh, and the new chain on my chainsaw works too!

Have you treated them with anything?

I've been looking for things to make in the workshop we have finsihed doing up.
Are the table mats cut thru log with the bark removed or have you edged them in any way?
I may start small with "wine glass" coasters :excited:

Hi all,
I'm afraid there's nothing fancy to them (obvious statement! :innocent: ). Just discs of untreated beech cut from a fallen branch, no bark removal, no nothing!
I did find that the thin ones seemed to warp / crack after a week or two indoors, so only the thick ones survived. They're a bit wobbly and wonky of course, but that just makes me laugh. Mrs Womble says she wishes I could cut fresh bread that straight - perhaps I should use my chainsaw!

Beautiful.
