That their lambs take longer to mature for meat.  This means you need to feed them over the winter whilst keeping them well away from the tup.  I have the answer - for sale - texel/beltex cross tup lambs (£100).  This combination means that your lambs will put on plenty of weight over the summer, be double muscled on the rear legs (big legs of lamb a favourite with butchers), and be ready for slaughter by the time that the grass runs out (in my opinion grass fed lamb tastes better).
