Just wondered if there was anything in lamb nuts that would cause a problem with pigs eating them ?
Our local store has 20 sacks of jim Peets lamb pellets that will be O.O.D. in a weeks time reduced to £2.50 a sack and wondered if I could mix them with the finisher nuts for the pigs :-\

I've been having the same thought. Would be really interested to know the answer.

I've fed lamb pellets, calf nuts, in fact just about any kind of farm feed. I used to work at a feed place and got first dibs on any OOD stuff. You can't be too fussy at that price.

Thanks looks like I know where I am going first thing in the morning ::)

I used to use the cheap stuff to eke out the proper pig feed. You'll have to keep an eye on their condition as some things pile on the fat if you're not careful.

Watch the mineral contents as sheep feeds lack some of the minerals pigs need. I know for example you cannot feed pig nuts to sheep as it can cause swayback.

Jim Peets told me that a lot of people feed their Stockblend 123 to pigs as they don't do a specific pig ration.
I don't know about any lamb feeds though - they'd have a different formulation. You could call and ask Jim Peets.
Otherwise, the OOD will relate to the vitamins moreso than any of the feed ingredients, so as long as it still looks and smells fresh I wouldn't be too bothered about feeding it beyond the OOD date (provided the meat from these pigs is for your own consumption, not for sale, of course), so if you mixed it at a relatively low proportion - say 1/5th lamb feed 4/5ths pig feed - I don't suppose it could do too much harm.
But personally I would call and ask Jim Peets.

Well I have spoken to Peets and they have said there wont be a problem mixing them with the finiser nuts I am using and suggested 50/50
I have been over and brought all 20 bags back for the grand total of £50 ! I thought the date was next week but its actualy the end of October
the lambs like them as do the goats so all in all I am sure they will be used
