Title: Pig Feed
Post by: Miss_N_Ewe on May 20, 2009, 02:36:33 pm
We feed our pigs compound and were told they were fed on fodder beet previously, ( they were grown when we bought them)  we can't locate fodder beet i know other similar products are available similar to turnip etc, does anyone sell it, know who does or can point us in the direction of a supplier?  Thanks

hi, do you mean peaks as in peak district?
have you tried chelford market in macclesfield?
they usually have a section selling fodder such as beet etc.
much cheaper than agriculural merchants etc.

Hello,

I would use this as a supplement to their feed but not as a replacement to the compound pig feed. Fodder beet on it's own would not offer the diet required for your pigs.

Cheers

Exactly what I was going to say.  Fodder beet could replace 1/4 diet of dry sows or fed as a bulk for growers, never as a feed on its own.
