OH still awaiting transfer for rehab 11 weeks down the line. Bit concerned about him as he was doing really well up until about 10 days ago, then he seemed to be getting a bit confused. I don't know if it is just simple frustration or if something else is going on, but the hospital are very reluctant to do anything for him. It really annoys me that in the whole of Wales there is just 13 beds for this type of rehabilitation, and they can be tied up for months with other patients.I feel as if we in Wales are getting the raw end of the deal as they will not allow him to be referred outside of Wales because of RED TAPE. What a state the NHS is in this country.
This is a man that has worked all his life and paid the top rate of NI contributions as certain times of his life and he is treated as a third rate citizen because he fell down the stairs. If you omplain even to the health minister it is refereed back to the local health trust, what a joke.

sorry to hear things are not going too well at the moment. As far as the nhs in Wales is concerned , you could always do what someone in a similar position did , if you or he has relations in another area ie England...say that he has moved in with them as you can no longer cope . He would then be under their jurisdiction !!! it does get a bit confusing and should not have to be done , but the postcode lottery with the NHS does exist and the only thing you can do is play them at their own game. You have paid for care and are entitled to it !!!! You may well have to lower yourself to their depths !!! the system is much like the houses of parliament ...it is a complete croc of sh*t ....and it stinks !!! If you were Polish or from Asia or Africa , you would get the best treatment available anywhere in the world.....Hope he starts to improve soon mate.....

I don't know if you would want to invest in any alternatives, but Craniosacral therapy might be the thing for your OH. I can source someone with lots of experience near you if you are at all interested. If you want to know more, let me know. I don't think there are many physiotherapists on the NHS doing it, but you never know. Something worth fighting for if you can get it paid for (worth having done even if one does have to pay!) :&>

And you can self refer to a physio, you don't need to be referred by your GP or consultant.
