..following on from previous post - not flystrike, but blimmin biting lice back! Instructions tell you which nozzle to use, and where to apply, and how much.... but not how. So for ticks and lice do I have to part the fleece and apply to skin (like I did for 'Spot on' lice treatment) along midline, or do I apply to fleece? Many thanks F

I think Crovect is best used on shorn sheep, so with that in mind I would suggest that parting the fleece and running the crovect down nearer the the base of the wool would be a benefit if you can manage it. The instructions on the bottle will show you where on the animal to spray.

Any reason why you are choosing to use Crovect rather than the Spot On this time? We typically use the Spot On which we find works well - it would be interesting to hear what preferences others have and why.

thanks both - crovect is just what I have - would also be interested in what results people have with biting lice treatments.

I use Spot on. I have read an article that if you put it on at one place, as recommended, it eventually spreads everywhere, even to the sheep's feet. However, for lice, I still think it's best to part the fleece and pour along the spine.

TWO different modes of action , SPOT -ON 5ml applied directly on to the skin mid shoulder, absorbed in to the skin , reduces the inceidence of lice over 4-6 wks . CROVECT weight based applied as a pin line down the spine on to the wool , travels in the wool grease , kills in hours. My choice always crovect for lice . :raining:

We used Crovect for biting lice on the moorland farm, and were told to get it as close to on the skin as possible, so you needed a bit of fleece growth so that you could part the fleece and see the skin, then put a line down onto that skin.
For dosage, this page on NOAH (http://www.noahcompendium.co.uk/Novartis_Animal_Health_UK_Ltd/Crovect_1_25_ACU-_w_v_Pour-on_Solution_for_Sheep/-27942.html) has all the details, for lice, ticks, headflies, blowflies and strike treatment :).
