Title: Ex Battery Hens in North East Scotland
Post by: MischieMoo on September 18, 2012, 10:21:22 pm
Hi there
Does any one know where we can get some ex batts from up here.  Have been on British Hen Welfare Trust website but it appears they no longer have their contact north of the border.  Have found one in Dumfries but that is miles away from us.

its all about timing! I got a load from a farm in Newmachar when they changed stock over, will be next year now before they have any mroe available.
I managed to find homes for all of those I rescued and wish I had taken more now as they were really productive and everyone seemed to want to give a home. I visited a couple at the weekend and they were unrecognisable from the scrawnys they once were.
Is this your first chickens?

Hi Mays

Yes, would be our first lot.  Perhaps you could drop me a note next year when some more are due to be rehomed.

Allarburn Farm in Elgin sell off their layers  - not ex-batts, but it would be a start for you.

The farm has a shop in Elgin, try giving them a call & see what they have. We've bought hens and pekin ducks from them in the past.

Contact details:
