Title: Highland Life
Post by: bucketman on September 16, 2012, 07:04:26 pm
Hi well we have been here a few weeks. The pub is open and people have been in. Our local's are game keepers and they bring there guest's I stand behind the bar and listern to all the fishing and shooting story's. Going out with them this week looking for foxes. the stuff we have had to learn is unreal. How to change water filters how to sort septic tanks and blocked drain's and how to pull a pint. The wife has been doing home made soup while I chop logs. It will go very quiet soon so will read we have not TV in a month. But one thing we know is where we can buy some nice pork from  ;)

Just had a nose.  It looks lovely.  I also looked at the satellite view of the area.  It must be an amazing landscape.

It sounds like you are getting well settled.  Keep learning.  Like where to buy good lamb.    ;D

I remember that from my last mini break in the Highlands - frightening when you aren't used to it... I just pulled over and let the locals pass whenever possible!

But the views... Wow.

Not much happening here. The gran kids are up for a few days. So today will take them for a little walk on the Ledmore estate. The other night two people came in they had been on the hills for 4 days and got caught in the heavy rain. the girl said she had been washed down a river for 30ft. they where totally ill prepared.
So off for are walk

The Ledmoore Estate is owned by the Bulmers the cider people the other day one of our regulars came in with 2 guys. One got the round in then looked round seen the ghillies and said get them a dram. Sorted   but then he walked away with out paying. Am stood there thinking what to say when some one said pay the guy he seemed suprised but paid up. It was latter when he had gone someone said It was one of the Bulmers he was up looking at Ledmoore. He did drink cider Strogbow :innocent:

You have to do your personal License. Thats the law its only a one day course then you have to pay for a police check. My mate down in runcorn runs a pub so he told me loads and I can ring him any time. Then its all the other stuff you have to clean the lines once a week. Real ale is the worst you have 4 may be 5 days max then it goes off. There are ways round that. Its the paper work thats a pain

The hardest thing about doing a blog is actually writing stuff regularly - its quick, easy and free to get started. google have one called 'blogger' which is pretty easy to use and wordpress.com have a free option too.
