Title: Pigs at Westmorland
Post by: Roxy on September 13, 2012, 11:56:13 pm
Well, it was lovely to meet TAS pigs today ....even if they were all asleep.  They were beautiful.  Unfortunately, I did not get to meet their owners!!
My husband thought my Kunes were big, until he saw the size of some of those in the tent today!!!
Lovely show, shame it poured with rain this afternoon though.

I tried to get into the pig tent all day, but it was closed until mid-afternoon for judging. Finally got to see the pigs but not you guys. Still, the pigs were lovely

The tent was open late morning ....public wandering around, but no pig owners as far as I could see.  Were you all in the beer tent?  I should have had an announcement put over the tannoy demanding you return to the pig section.  I would have called back before I left, but it was raining hard and I didn't think my OH would walk back to the pigs, again!!

unless you know us we just blend in like everybody else        but there is a big clue here we wear white coats when we are showing        Lillian was captured by border TV to do an interview at the pigs it was supposed to go out last night at 6   did anybody see it

the tent was heaving and on safety grounds it is cleared of the public when moving pigs for showing :farmer:

;D Robert, not prominent enough for me to see you, in the pig tent.  I think badges are required.  I was actually looking out for them on people round the show ....but, imagine approaching someone wearing one.  What exactly do you say, as you don't know their name, and they won't have a clue who you are.  Perhaps we also need a phrase to say to each other if we see someone with a badge on!!!

Robert, not everyone knows what you look like!

As to a phrase, I guess I'd just say, "Oh, I see you are wearing a TAS badge," or, "You must be a TASer, I'm SallyIntNorth," or somesuch.

also if you just ask people that look to be in attendance    they can usually put a face to a name :farmer: or find somebody that can     in all honesty you don't get to go far from the pigs   if you are in several classes
on the winning point  hazel the Hampshire was first in her class   beating john sutcliff s  entries and she was breed reserve champion to johns sow that just beat her by a whisker (johns sow had just slightly better hams according to the judge) johns sow then went on to be the overall champion in the pig section :farmer:

Roxy & JK sorry to have missed you, meantime i got to meet Robert & Lillian who are not the old fossils they purport to be on here! but are both very lovely people who were extremely helpful keeping my wild girls in the show ring, WM show is a grand show, lots to see and do, we saw loads of school kids been dragged around the showfield and i did consider shouting out Yo JK but resisted the temptation ;D  will pigs permitting be back next year, been busy the past few days catching up at home, mum had a fall but is ok and we went to fetch a new boyfriend called herbert for my girls and hopefully as i type he's making me some good januaries for next year :trophy: :fc: . Its lovely to put faces to names, Robert is the one with a broad smile, a rude tie and a twinkle in his eye, Lillian is the pretty one of the couple with a helpful word and a hug to crush the life out of you ;D
