we had all but the pigeon and the sparrows but a dead blackbird in the retired woodburning stove, some swallows looking for nesting places and baby bluetits fallen through a gap on the ceiling (before we got the cat thank heavens).
You are not alone, Linz! :&>

When we move in we were bitten to bits by the previous owners cat's fleas, I looked like I had measles, they had to be eradicated, all gone now, when I went away a crow fell own the chimney and flew around the house but it broke the cast iron fire back, we had to get it fixed as all the smoke came into the room when we lit a fire........no other strange critters, only strange guests!!!!!!
-
The ice and the sparrow are current guest lol
Found a baby sparrow (fledging) this morning in spaire bedroom then hear them in the loft open loft up and hubby looked and found the hole in roof then i looked up (almost 16 stone 5 month pregant lady up a ladder and guess who found the sparrow in the loft and got the fright of her life while standing on the ladders!!!)
The cat and the pigeon just walked in the backdoor lol not at the same time though.

forgot to mention the bat! came through the same opening as the bluetit I think :&>
-
lol Hubby has discovered that they is a whole hord of them using the roof /loft space as a home, Oh dear !!!
-
Spiders everywhere all the time
Bats often, if I leave the door open in the evening - removed each time in a tupperware box after temporarily knocking themselves out whilst flying into my newspaper - well you try catching one! Anyway they always survive to return later
Swallows this year looking for a nest - unfortunately in my bedroom - evicted
When I lived in London a fox came through the cat flap - I found him sitting on my printer - not sure who was more afraid!!
-
We (humanely) caught a wee shrew in our bathroom this morning. He was just like a tiny little mole!! ;D

This weekend:
Lots of cockchafer's (huge beetle like things)
2 dead sparrows (thanks Tabby)
Tabby the cat
kebab (one of the chickens)
Spiders a plenty
a rabbit (I did bring this in after shooting it - does that count?)
my wife :)

Arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh may bugs don't think you really get them in scotland (so glad i havn't found any here).
These things used to terroriise when i was little down in wales, they used to bang agaist the windows, doors, walls and even brake the glass some times.
My husband has seen them only once when we where staying in my grandparents house clearing it out after they had died and we had bought some shopping so we where walking in and out of the house with the front door open and a light on and he came to tell me that a BIG brown ladybird was buzzing around the light lol.
The only way we could get it out was to turn off the light and turn on the outside light to get it out the door, and just wait for it to 'buzz out'.

Woodlice, spiders and silverfish are usual housemates. My 6 year old's hamster has regular holidays under the floorboards. We've had wasps in the roof and we've given up at trying to evict the mice from the loft.
-
lol, Am glad someone else has mice i did get a bit OCD to start with with them(especially as am pregnant too)

we even had an unpleasant period of the bigger variety a few years back... Environmental health did a great job! Some invasions are just too much. :&>
-
You need killer cats like I've got. I haven't seen any of these littler visitors - am I not looking hard enough or in the right places? Not that I want to meet up with them - just to KILL them!
-
I don't mine mince as long as they don't invade my space lol
which they are doing at the moment, Have got bated traps down at the moment but not sure what they are up too.

our cat is a brilliant mouser - outside, and then she brings them in, lol. She's probably a deterrent in the living quarters for the nasties, but we still get them in the attic in the winter and the cat doesn't go up there. Help is only one phone call away. :&>
-
My cats take their presents in for me too, but I was thinking of the even smaller nasties - where should I be looking for those and how do I get rid of them if I have them - and by all accounts everyone has. Would the Diatom earth work, and is there any point, would tehy just come back again? What do they do to me if I do have them in the house?
-
don't worry about them, Annie, especially if you can't see any! Woodlice are where it's damp, I find them in the shed, silverfish like it dark, like under carpets. I just throw anything out, no need to kill it. SPiders eat flies, even if their webs can get a bit unsightly. I wish we had a maybugs! I only ever found some as a kid and kept them in a box. They are so rare now. :&>

I have a couple of frogs. One is a wee red one and lives mostly in the greenhouse. Usually in the shade of the trough planters i have in there under teh shallots or in the "seed tray" that is filled with water and has a couple of courgette plants sitting in it in a pot.
then there is a darker brown one, he is usually to be found in the raised beds - under the carrot leaves - but of course there is nothing up yet, so he is in the dock leaves that are growing around my raised beds.
I'm wondering if these guys are the ones that are keeping my slug and pest problems down?
Good effort if they are!!!
luckily wee Fella doesn't like them - he's had a wee lick of them, but not interested otherwise!
-
Woodlice and sliverfish are very commonly found in houses even modern builts, Don't worry about them just chuckem outside for the duck/chicken to eat if you don't like em in the house.
Well the mouse man has come arround just now and declaired with all the bate that was in the traps that has now gone they would have been killed by it.
Which in one way is sad but inanother way i am happier nowing the house it mice free.
Now to hunt the wholes and fill, fill, fill ,fill ,fill, fill to stop the bugger getting in again!!!!
