Title: A new pup
Post by: thestephens on September 02, 2012, 09:41:24 pm
hello, can finally join in with the dog posts, we lost our black lab Kim in May and said no more dogs! Knowing we would always be comparing a new lab to Kim we have gone for a different dog altogether........today we took home Maggie a Bassett Hound and the smile on my husbands face (and the kids) is priceless!
Anybody else got one?

No dogs on the sofa, I've heard that one before. Then you say no dogs on the bed and somehow that gets to no dogs IN the bed  :roflanim:

She's lovely

I have a good friend who has Bassets. Love the size of their feet, definitely big dogs on short legs. His dogs' ears completely turn off when their noses have picked up a scent - and they can certainly dig  :D They are really friendly and affectionate - they come and lean on my legs  ;D

Good for OH  ;) What's the point of s sofa - surely they were designed for a heap of dogs and kids  ;D

Yeh, my rule has degenerated to 'no animals under the covers'  :D

A friend of mine has 2 , Both are lovely dogs but if they dont want to do something or dont want to come back they just switch off

Yep, they're pretty stubborn - nose in gear, ears off  :D

As for digging, definitely the full 'getting to Australia' bit. They were bred for hunting (by nose) and then digging out badgers and rabbits. Mind you, the younger one of my friend's is only a half-hearted digger, my border collie boy is worse  ::)
