Title: back in milk?
Post by: thestephens on August 31, 2012, 05:36:33 pm
We reunited Roxy our sow with her 2 leftover piglets (10 weeks) and 2 other kune kunes on Wednesday, a day short of 2 weeks away from them, all looked good, she was running away from them rather than chatting to them and they were sticking with the other 2 pigs.
Husband spied her today lying down and the piglets were feeding!! off i go to check her out, she feels a little warm but i cant get any milk from the teats but one of them has taken a good bite out of one of them so i dont think she will be letting them feed again.....or will she? have taken her back out of that field, will get some purple spray or sudocrem (which would be better?) on her teat.
Any advice?

Purple spray for her udder (after you've given it a clean)
Keep a close eye for signs of infection though - might need an anti-b  :-\
I'd maybe give her another week on her own, see how she gets on after that.
