Title: Cockerel
Post by: wobblebobble on August 29, 2012, 03:53:30 pm
Hi there

I know this is a long shot, but figured I would ask.  I am shortly moving to France, and am trying to find a home for my 2.5 yr old cockerel (crossbreed).  Having trouble!

Basically he has been a pet really, and done a fab job of looking after my girls (who I have found a home).  The only issue with him is that he can be a little temperamental, and at certain times (mostly when he is a little randy!!) he will chase me out of the coop, and fly at me, spurs and all.  I guess if you weren't expecting it, he could do some damage.  I am painting an awful picture of him I guess, but he really is lovely and a handsome devil otherwise!

So, anyone got a little smallholding that requires a pet cockerel (not to end up as coq au vin please)?  He is a great protector of lady hens and I have enjoyed owning him - if it wasn't for the cost, and blood tests etc, I would take him with me.

Thanks

Yours hopefully

Alison

It is a shame he didn't go with his ladies wobblebobble. No help here I am afraid.

Hi.  It is a shame, but the person having the hens has young children, and I wouldn't feel comfortable letting them go in to get the eggs if he was in one of his 'moods'.

Thanks for replying though.
