My 2 boys will be going to slaughter on 10th sept and I am trying to make sure that I have not overlooked anything.
Have contacted abbatior re dates, times and advance booking (still have to do a dummy run the week before!)
Slapmarker here - will do the night before
Will put trailer in field a couple of days before and feed them in it and possibly sleep in it? The pigs not me :o
registered with scoteid today and think I know what to do, but if anyone has used this do I just just tick the 'all pigs comply with FCI statements' - they have never been given any form of drugs or do I bring my health record with nothing in it ??? I will print off the movement form obviously.
Had to nip outside as my new freezer just arrived (the fairly obvious thing that I did overlook :dunce: )
Now my mind is going blank :P I just don't want to miss something obvious
......and a few extra tummy rubs and treats for the next week and a bit ;D
please let me know if I have it covered as it is my first time :pig:

I think you've got it all covered :thumbsup:
I'd feed them in the trailer the night before and just shut it up after that - it saves you having to chase them in the morning and means they don't need breakfast to get them into the trailer (abattoirs prefer empty 'guts' ;))
When you do your movement on ScotEID there's a little box you tick to say you comply with FCI regs (which you will if they've not have any medications or if they have, but the withdrawel time is past) It's fairly straightforward.

Just 1 more tip - practise reversing your trailor. The lads at the abbattoir love to get "newbies" reversing round corners - just fot the fun of it ::)
I had an audience of about 7 my 1st time :huff: But I got the last laugh - when I told them there were 3 boys to unload, they dashed around getting barriers & boards - I just dropped my tailgate & called "c'mmon piggy, piggy" & my 3 KKs trotted down & followed me into the pens :roflanim:

I am actually ok at reversing as always off with the ponies, but with an audience it does always seem to go 'tits up' :o
Hopefully my piggies will be as well behaved as yours :fc:

Only put the trailer in far enough to let them use the ramp, otherwise they'll completely destroy your lights and wiring.
Take mobile phone with abattoir and vets numbers stored on it - you never know when you'll break down (the car - not you unless you find the final journey too much!) or have an accident.
Take the slapper just in case they say they can't read the numbers - you can then re-slap.
Take a pig board to help unloading

Would not have thought of taking the slapper! Have the numbers on my phone already!
Sould I be practising with a pig board as never used one they just follow me for food or fun! I have about 10 days to try the board!
And possibly I will have the breakdown and not the car! But bottle of brandy will be waiting at home :innocent:

Aha - you have a trailor you can see :thumbsup: The biggest draw-back with the wee ones, I've found, is that you can't see where the back-ends going until it's going there (if you know what I mean) - I suppose the good thing about it is that you can always un-hitch it & woman-handle it - as long as it's empty of course ;) :innocent:

my gos are off on friday,and what a good site this is.couple of things bugging me this afternoon ,so come in put tas site on and my problems answered.(1}give last feed night before (2)i shall take slap marker with me,done them this afternoon then they rolled in mud and it poored with rain.

Beewyched - I also have done the trailors that you can't see in the past and think they are impossible, def un hitching and woman power needed ::) Thankfully using BIG trailor :relief:

Hi ppd, When you fill out your scoteid form make sure and print off 2 copies, keep 1 for yourself and file it, it is easier to get a file than wait for a computer to load if you have an inspection. Yes you will need to tick the box "all pigs comply with the fci". You WILL have to fill in this form and give it to the slaughterhouse, showing them your medicine record is of no use to them sorry.
