Just thought I'd share this video I took of a barn owl a few weeks ago. We'd seen it a few times briefly, so I'd taken to carrying my camera around in the hope I'd manage to grab a photo of it. I couldn't believe my luck when I managed to shoot this :excited:
Apologies for the shakiness, I'd zoomed right in and the excitement had got to me :D!

Greenmoor - that's a great clip  I love the bits where it's hovering and you can see the legs moving back and forth for balance, while keeping the eyes absolutely stable. What a beautiful bird - and well done for filming it.

Thanks Greenmoor - that was great - well done you for being prepared

Glad you all enjoyed it - the best bit was when I turned around afterwards to share the excitement with my hubs and realised he'd been standing in the opposite gateway looking in the wrong direction and had missed it all ;D

Great clip :excited: :excited:
What time of day was it? I was surprised to see it doing the hover - dunno why but it never occurred to me that owls would hover like other predator birds doh!
Bet your OH was a bit >:(

It was 9.45pm and I had no idea that they hovered like that either!
Yep, OH's language was pretty colourful :-[, but I did point out that I only saw what he watched back on the clip anyway.
Thanks everyone :)

That was so beautiful. I dream of seeing one in our fields. We put up three owl boxes and got pigeons ::) .
Thank you for sharing it, take a
