Title: Can anyone sex and breed this duck?
Post by: WarescotFarm on August 10, 2012, 08:59:35 pm
This is Rapunzel, she is HUGE!

We actually just wanted a small duck so thinking we need to sell her but have no idea of breed or if she is a Rapunzel (girl) or Flynn Ryder (boy)

Thanbks

Not an expert but looks like a muscovy to me she/he is lovely.

Again no expert, but if it starts laying eggs it's a girl :excited:

It is difficult to see the face very well but those marking could indicate something like a Swedish as they often end up black instead of blue and are big birds.

Hi,

it isnt a Muscovey - perhaps a Magpie or Swedish cross? pick it up - if it Quacks it is a duck if it makes a croaky sound it is a drake!

How old?

S/He looks like a bit of a Heinz 57, probably with a lot of magpie but then looks like some of my cayuga / white Campbell crosses. Not a Muscovy.

If it is over 24 weeks then it is probably a girl as no sex curls but younger than that you couldn't be sure from a picture (or a drake that has just moulted!).

I second the advice about listening to the quack.

If you were just that little bit closer to me - We would love to have her... Our little girl's muscovy male would really like her  :D

She is now ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE!!!!
Tail feathers haven't curled and she quacks when I pick her up so hoping she is a she!
Feel a bit mean keeping her in a paddling pool though, this duck looks like she needs a whole Ocean!
