I read in practical poultry magazine that to help with the problem of having alot of unwanted cockerals running around it would be advisable to incubate eggs from auto-sexing breeds(Cockerals different colour from hens)I doubt I would buy any chicken eggs to incubate but just out of interest what sort of breeds are auto sexing???
-
you still end up killing the unwanted chucks.
-
yeh but i;m just curious what sort of breeds are auto sexing, any ideas?
-
cream legbars are. they have a very nice green/blue egg.
-
I think any breed that is a something-bar is autosexing.

This is quite interesting - http://www.creamlegbar.co.uk/

hey guys, cheers for all your replys. After doing a bit of digging I have found a list of birds which are "auto sexing" the list I found is as follows
Welbar
Rhodebar
Wybar bantams
Gold Cambars
Gold legbar
Amrocks
Cream Legbar
Cobar
Barnebar
Bantam Welbar
I think its really useful to know, does anyone have disagreements on this list?We did rule out hatching chickens but now I know the breeds which auto sex it does make things a little bit more do able. The male chicks could be killed and sold as food for keepers of birds of prey I was thinking or something along them lines.

Pity we couldn't auto sex the eggs before hatching then the chicks wouldn't need to struggle out of their eggs only to be killed immediately without enjoying any life. Somebody should invent a scanner to do this.
