we are pleased to announce...
the safe, quick & quiet arrival of two gorgeous little female goat kids, Chrissie & Champion.
I know, its August, but they have a funny old romance, our goats!
they are doing fine ... :D

Aw that's lovely
It's nice to get piccies of newborns out of season. And just shows how animals do know best sometimes :D
-
well, better than a freezing cold winter's birth ...
-
Not nice winter birth for keepers but I can ooh  at the piccies in awe ;D ( if your goaty
ladies are up for it :innocent: )

Aww ....lovely!! Is the Mum your young goat, whose name escapes me . ...Willow?
Our pygmies usually kid end of November time :)
-
no, Geraldine.
She is a great mum .. to the point of washing them when they are trying to sleep, washing us, washing everything!
She milked right through this time, just slowing down so we were milking every two or three days.
Just hope she will keep some weight on, she gets so thin despite packing food away. She even stopped between the kids' births to eat!

You really should have tried to fully dry her off, the kids are a big drain of calcium on her, and milking as well all through the pregnancy is another drain on calcium.
Cute kids, enjoy them.

Super - what lovely looking kids

I have a Sanaan like Geraldine in that they are a very good Mother to their kids. I have given Molly a rest this year, but I am sure she would prefer to have a couple of kids round her!!!
As to to eating when giving birth, goats sometimes do this - sort of takes their mind off the pain I think. Some of my goats who kidded this time, are rather lanky looking, but when milking or feeding kids, it is a great drain on their resources; I am sure Geraldine will put weight on once the kids are weaned.

What sweethearts
Rowan (my younger goat) was skinny as anything through her pregnancy and into feeding the kids. Like a hatrack :o
Turns out she likes flaked maize, ReadiGrass and mixed chicken corn. I've let her eat lots of all of them, as well as diary nuts and, whilst not as fat as a house like Ellie (who ate for three and only produced one ::)) she looks quite respectable now (kids born mid April).
