Hi All
The place we will buy comes with 8 acres of land so here the thing. At the moment it does not have a fence round it so would any one on her have an idea what the perimeter could be. I worked it out be about 720yrds but dont think thats right.
And as the wife has said may be it does not have a fence cos you cant have one Right To Roam and all that???

right to roam does not prevent you fencing at all.
as to perimeter you cant tell from area there are several threads on the subject online.
you need either accurate plans or to actually measure it out on the ground to be accurate.

this link should help you measure the distance. I think it's quite a rough guide but worth a shot. Just type in the address, zoom in with the satellite view and measure the boundary. It starts on the usa but it works with uk addresses too.

Stock netting - C8/80/15 - that's 8 strands, 80cm high with vertical gaps of 15cm - mild steel £33ish for 50m, High tensile - £80ish for 100m.
Coiled wire - usually sold by weight, but the coils are about 400m and are around £33 for either mild steel or HT.
Strainers - 6" rounds about 11.50, 7" rounds about 14.30. Fence posts - about £2. All prices ex VAT.
Might be possible to get the strainers & posts a bit cheaper direct from a nearby sawmill.

Hiya, I've just bought the materials to do 150m of fencing plus a gate, for £500 incl VAT.
I obtained three quotes, which all came in within £20 of each other. Prices as follows, in case this is of help to you in budgeting your job:
7" Strainer Posts 7.5 ft 5" Turning Posts 7.5 ft 3"x3" square tanalised stobs 5.5 ft 4" x 4" square tanalised posts 7 ft 3" x 1.25" tanalised rails 12ft C8/80/15 Green Rylock stock mesh 50m roll plain galvanised wire, standard gauge (not hi-ten) 200m roll Radisseurs
each
Note, all of the above prices were excluding VAT. The green rylock is quite a bit more expensive, but comes with a 20 year guarantee. Obviously any bought-in labour to erect would be on top of this, but hopefully this will give you a starting point?
