So it turns out that our chickens like the rain. In fact, I think they may actually be ducks with an identity crisis.
They don't seem to like going inside during the day, so I've provided them with some more cover in their run outside, but to no avail:

(That reminds me, must get my tickets for Glastonbury booked soon! ;D)
So come on folks, put my mind at rest - is this normal, or are they going to catch their death of cold / bird flu?

Cheers!!

Rain is good for chicken's feathers. Keeps them in good nick.

We have a few very dry bits where our chickens are and I find they shelter there, I have a problem trying to keep pellets dry as they are not too ken anyway so wet ones are wasted, I often put them in a bucket on it's side if it's pouring, I even fixed an old umberella over where they feed but of course it did not work, heres hoping the rain is limited this year ::)

Just reminded me of my partner asking years ago,, "our cows waterproof?" I giggled for ages at that remark and thought of all cows in the field with their skin hanging stretched to the floor like a wet, hand knitted jumper!!!!!

Talking about keeping pellets dry in the rain we fitted old plastic plates to the top of our feeders to keep the contents dry our chooks seem to be quite sensible when it rains they seek some sort of shelter under a bush or maybe even the pig sty (not that the pigs approve)
