This makes me cry just reading it. I can't even begin to imagine how you must be feeling. I think you mentioned that you have a page for her on Facebook - what is it under, as then I can share it. I am down in Devon, so will raise awareness down here too, just in case they are trying to sell her somewhere else.
WE HAVE FOUND BELLA!
Well we know where she is in Kent, the traveller site behind Darenth Valley Hospital, we know the name of the person who has her, his full description and vehicle.
But... so far Kent police can't collect as Essex police haven't sent an email, trying to get Essex police to send an email is like getting blood from a stone. They are actively trying to sell her so not sure we will get her back. We have been advised that traveller site is not one to approach by their liason officer.
:fc:
I am all for going in, but at every turn people are telling me not to goThe shop thing sounds like a good 'reason' for you to turn up.
I want to just go and try and buy her back even, apparently they have a little farm shop at the edge of the site that they sometimes sell livestock from, it is a case of turn up and see if someone is there. i am considering that angle, just saying i want a goat and see
oh i don't know ???
i also don't want them to be cross and come back to our house if the police reclaim her
It is really disgusting that they have got something of yours and the police refuse to act.
Helen
The Police can't go in, they'd be attacked and badly hurt. And I know, where does that leave law-abiding citizens, but the police are people's dads and husbands too and should be able to go home at the end of their shift.
But you could go in, they won't hurt a woman. You might well have to buy Bella back, and yes, you shouldn't have to. But if you want her back.
I'd go in and ask someone who to talk to. Explain that you'd lost your goat, that you understood someone here had 'found' her and you'd be very willing to pay a reward to get her back as she was a pet, like a dog or horse to you. No accusations, leave a 'bridge' for them to back over.
I think you'll find someone will go and get the person who has 'found' her. Control your anger, be as pleased as if they had found her, name your reward, which may well have to be significant :-\ Maybe about half what it might cost to buy her, hopefully the typical 'bird in the hand' attitude will win out.
Fingers crossed, I am gunning for you and Bella here :-*
And then beef up security significantly at your place, you don't want more visits >:(
In other words, if the scenario was a dodgy bit of a notorious council estate, the police would maintain high visbility presence, and if the issues continued, problem residents would eventually be evicted and the situation addressed. The double standard is that many travellers sites are effectively no go areas for the policeThe difference between these two is that, on the whole, on dodgy estates, the residents don't all act together to attack the police. On those that do, they are also no-go zones for unarmed officers. We have a society that bleats (the chattering classes most of all) at any roughness on the part of any authorities, but then wonders why those same authorities don't walk into places with perhaps a hundred armed adult men.
am a woman on a mission and going to annoy everyone until I get my goat back , my husband says I am especially good at being annoyinggotta use the skills you've been given ;) Good luck for you and Bella
Thank you Vic Farmer,so pleased you are not giving up - good on you. The trick is to make not doing anything about this disgrace more of a pain in the bum for the unwilling officials (who if it were you or I would be straight in throwing the book) than the hassle of actually doing something....:-)))
I have just emailed all Merry Hell to our MP, Kent police, Essex Police, our borough council and kent council too
Calling DEFRA tomorrow - I am a woman on a mission and going to annoy everyone until I get my goat back , my husband says I am especially good at being annoying :excited:
If you start paying to get your own goat back just think how hard it will be for the next person who may not have the money :(True but not too likely, goats horses etc cost a fair bit to keep in feed and vet care even as routine. Agree with the principle of not rewarding crime, but it really only becomes necessary when local authorities and police allow no go areas to exist and politicians are too spineless to act. It is their failure which means it may be the only option in this case.
Yes.Quite.
It's maybe a question of do you want your goat back or do you want to reform society.
Personally, I'm happy to reform society as long as none of my family or animals is at risk :-\
Livestock are transported between a site in Dartford and Harlow. They have a board with hundreds of animals listed for sale (all stolen) and it is run by someone who is legally NOT allowed anywhere near animals.
Which means it should be easy to get evidence of their movements from the Dartford toll cameras ;) Warescot, I lived near Nth Weald for nearly 50 years and, through my work, know their skullduggery well >:( >:( . Every now and then there is a clamp down but it is rarely reported. As you say, beef up your security and stay safe. And that particular lot are not worried by dogs. I am so sorry about Bella :bouquet:
Well my email mission last night went noticed and I got a visit from the officer in charge...... :-[
It's official, BELLA IS HOME!!omg I am soooooooooo pleased for you!! Amazing fantastic news. This has made my day - but not half as much as it has made yours and your horse's I bet!!!
The travellers sold it to a man with a small holding up the road, he saw our article in the local gazette and called the police! :excited: :excited:
Thank you so much to everyone who spread the word and helped bring Bella home to us.
We are one happy family now :D ;D :D
And in the end, they're them. That's the best they get from life. Would you swap places? Exactly! So there's the first bit of their comeuppance ;)
Even better news the man who helped us find her got his stolen goats back off the back of people looking out for Bella. One was in France!Love that picture!!! And love the news about the other goats.
Now that's good karma!
