We've been looking into this for Lou's new business.

We found two options - cardboard with polystyrene liner or cardboard with wool liner.  Polystyrene is cheaper, but obviously we are going for the wool with ice packs.

The wool one is from the wooly shepherd (http://www.woollyshepherd.co.uk/packaging) in Somerset.

Hope that helps...

A source of polystyrene boxes here:

They sell gel packs too.

As the founder of the Woolly Shepherd and one of the first people to work out how insulated wool packaging actually works all I can do is say that if you go with the wool you will not regret it! If you collect and re use your boxes you will be able to re use the liners many times, however if you need to send them with no possibility of a return and reuse, put a leaflet in the box saying what the purchaser can do with their wool, will make customers really value the packs if they see they can be used for a variety of other things, such as hanging basket liners, upholstery wadding, hot water bottle wadding in quilted covers, etc!

Ahhh, Val, I wondered if it was you...  We've just ordered some samples from you and are going to be posting things to family at varying distances to see if we can keep stuff frozen.

Not me anymore unfortunately as I broke up the main WoollyShepherd business last year and sold the part with the name to a local partnership who now do the insulation side of things and woolly clouds n stuff. Now concentrating on other woolly stuff!

You would need what they would know as a Riverford medium box and you would need to put ice packs in x 2 of the sort that look like ice cubes (you soak them in water then freeze)
