Welcome to TAS
we have Snowball (a black siameseX cat - she technically works here as rat control though!) then there's Paddy a Senegal parrot, Flopsy a white lionlop bunny (retired from breeding) and then 2 goldfish that my kids won at a fair, they were so proud as they came up brandishing their plastic bags with them in...I was less impressed when it cost me £30 to buy a tank, pump, plants, gravel........ ::)

You dont need an icebreaker Shropshirelass, just get stuck in and join the conversations its great fun! A big welcome from me in France. Ive only visited Shropshire a couple of times but its very beautiful.
At the moment we have 2 moggies, having only recently lost our third one Phoebe. However, our neighbours moved and took their dog but left their cats to fend for themselves...nice! One of them Lily is very friendly and loves a cuddle so we are in the process of intigrating her with the other 2, not an easy task. The other cat Lola stays outside and just gets fed and watered by us.

Hello
We have 3 dogs, who each have their own master. My mother has a jack Russell for ratting, I have a 9 yr old collie, who desperately loves me. And my OH and I got a puppy 3 pr so years ago, who looked round and went- oh he does have a dog, and attached himself to my OH.
3 cats, the 2 young ones are pretty good at catching rats, mice (and birdies >:( ).
Too many guinea pigs because we don't seem to be very good at sexing them ??? Lol

Hi and welcome from sunny Scotland we have
1 horse
1 sec A pony
1 jack russell
2 chihuahas
1 rabbit
1 guinea pig
1 house cat
1 stable cat
-
Hmm, not sure how to answer as none of mine are considered pets but they all try and behave like that's their role ::)
I own 15 Highland ponies (5 on loan at present) but they're essentially a breeding stud and thus part of the business tho they might as well be pets much of the time ::)
I have 8 hens, who pay their way through egg sales so they're not pets, but one who was injured recently is ingratiating herself by following me around begging for cat food and clearly thinks she'd like to be a pet chook ::)
And there are 4 cats, all gainfully employed in pest control :) tho their working hours are not exactly full time and their naps can last a fair part of a rainy day ::)

Hi & welcome from a very wet & windy West Scotland
You can see below what pets / stock we have -
The geese have a free run of the front garden which has about half an acre of grass where we have a couple of moveable chuck houses & runs, plus veg beds, flower boarders, fruit bushes & a little orchard - where our 2 bee hives are situated :bee:
The chicken flock & turkeys live in & around the back yard & free-range at the edge of the woods & in our wee wild flower paddock (about a quarter of an acre). The pigs live down the 2 acre woods on a rotational basis of half acre sections (depending on where we can get the electric fence set up) & live in an ex-cattle byre during the winter so the land doesn't get too churned-up.
The dogs live in the house & usually have the run of another, bigger byre during the daytime. The far end of which is used as the "piggy maternity ward" as there is an electric supply in it. The 2 farm cats are still kittens & live in the house at the moment until they are big enough to fend against Roland's extended family, they will then live in the old loft in the byre.
During the winter, we also have our landlords' young cattle up here in another of the outbuildings.
So we've got a fair amount on our 3 acres, usually living harmoniously with each other :fc: ;D

I look through these lists and feel so much better - some of our friends and family think we are mad having so many animals, and to be honest it is great to know there are people out there who are as 'mad' if not more so than us! Will post this link to aforementioned friends and family - we are not alone :D
-
Hi, from a hot and humid Hampshire. I only have one pet...my 11 year old Border Collie Scrappy. Would love to have more but not feasible at the moment.
-
I didn't even mention the 20 goats and three orphan lambs.... Cause technically they're working animals and not necessarily pets!

I love reading these posts and will show them to my friends who think I have too many animals - strange concept!
In the house:
2 border collies, pets really - Skye (11) is some use with the sheep, Skerry (9) was really my ex's but he just left her behind so she's welcome to stay and be part of the crew
Arran, a very old Golden Retriever who makes me laugh every day and is currently barking for her breakfast
2 cats, Jinx and Jethro, who are indoor mousers after I lost three young cats on the road in two years
2 more cats, Ollie and Polly, lodging, belong to my parents who are in Australia for the summer
Some tropical fish
Outside:
2 goats (Ellie and Rowan) and their 3 female kids, kids going to new homes in due course
In the 'not really pets but of course I like them'
3 geese
About 20 ducks
30+ chickens
25 or so Shetland sheep
I think I'd go with Rusty's "they're my family and my mates" for the dogs, cats and goats.
-
....and we have:
1 cat (and 1 in a grave outside)
1 border collie Scout
1 goldfish
2 guineas Mr Nibbles and Ziggy
5 north ronaldsays
2 castlemilk moorits
2 soay sheep
3 pygmy goats Gruffalo Pebbles and Aunty Gherty
6 Steinbacher geese all trouble
1,000,000 muscovy ducks - would you like to buy some xxx

Nice to know we are not alone in loony land

1 staffi cross brought as a bit of a guard, what a joke that was
6 pugs all but one rescues the 'one' is a total diva
4 house cats, all feral rescue
1 budgie
10 ducks
23 hens
awaiting; 5 sheep and 2 goats
All loved and better than family :innocent:
-
Nothing except the humans lives in the house (by invitation anyway) now my old cat's gone
All the dogs work - well, except the hound and she'll work next season when she enters the pack
There's a cat calls this place 'home' and catches small furries about the farmstead
We've a load of all kinds of bats come out to play each evening - they keep the flying insects under some sort of control.
Most of the beef cattle and sheep are unequivocally farm animals (even those with names and that come up for a bit of fuss) except perhaps my funny little 'geeps' - but although they're not commercial they're not pets either
The hens do as they please and sometimes we can find some eggs, which is nice.
Hillie the house cow and her two daughters certainly have very special status and a very special place in my heart - but they have to pay their way too, in milk for the house and rearing calves to sell
The pigs are nearly pets - but some get eaten and if a sow doesn't perform, she's sausages
So that just leaves the ponies. We cherish the idea that we'll ride them, for pleasure and for shepherding, and that we'll use them for work about the farm - but they can be here whether or not that comes to pass, so I think that probably makes them pets.
The Muscovies when I get them (yes, meeting part way sounds good, goosepimple  - just need to get the duck house sorted and we'll arrange it) will be expected to contribute eggs and any boys reared will be for the pot - but they'll be much loved and safe here, whether they make a contribution or not. (I don't know what it is about Muscovies - I just really like to have a few around.)
And there's a refurbished pigeon loft awaiting a consignment of fantails and possibly some other fancy pigeons too - which will unequivocally be for the pure enjoyment of seeing them fly about the place. (Anyone got any baby fantails, or other fancy pigeons, wanting homes?)
So no, we don't really have pets as such - but we have an awful lot of animal & bird life about the place which fulfil those needs
-
And an animal free house, Sally! I've wondered for years what that would be like ;D
-
My dog is Daisy, a black GSDxLab,
Pirate is my OH's working guide dog, a black retrieverxlab,
Victor, a golden lab is my OH's retired guide dog.
Sapphire, a blue budgie.
Then the goats are also pets.
Snowdrift (AKA Pom) a Sanaan, who I milk,
Her son, Curry, a SanaanxBritish Alpine,
Snowcloud, a five month old Sanaanxboer (with possibley something else mixed in) who will be bred from next year.
Love them all.

Really Suzieque, you should try getting a nice pet, something useful...
;D I agree, tho they come in useful for some things ;D but can NEVER become domesticated enough to call a pet :innocent:
