Adelaide the 'wonderKune' caught us out AGAIN ::) ;)
Went out to do the field feeds this morning (with the plan of bringing the Kunekunes in this pm) and there she was lying in the middle of the wee field, nice & nested in the long grass, feeding piglets :o :o :o
Soooooooo we got her up eventually and brought her and the piglets into the shed, she's settled fine and happily feeding her brood. She delivered 15 in total, two unfortunately look as if they've been still born (but I'm going to do a quick pm later just to make certain) and there's a wee runty one that I'm not holding out much hope for :'( But we've got some little crackers all running around looking very alert already. Last time when she had a bigger litter we did lose a few in the first week, I think there's just so many she finds it difficult to walk/move/lie down without squashing some so time will tell how many she's going to raise this time.
I'll get some photo's on later, when we've all calmed down a bit ;D

Congratulations granny, well done Adelaide, cracking litter size especially since she had them outside. Fancy her catching you out again :innocent:
Mandy :pig:

Well done Adelaide - certainly a great mum, good luck with the wee ones :fc:
-
Thanks Brucklay ;D
I know Mandy ::) She's a one ;) ;D ;D ;D
No colostrum last night, no puffyness at her vulva, next week was when I thought she'd farrow - so she's got me stumped altogether. Confinement for her last 4 weeks from now on I think......as long as I get my dates right next time ;) :innocent:
-
That's half the fun of pig keeping never being quite sure if your dates are right ;)
-
Congratulations!!!!
-
Congratulations, can't wait for the pics

Here we are ;D
We lost the little one, but it did only weigh half a pound :(
The others are all averaging 1lb / 0.5Kg so :fc:
We have 5 boars and 7 gilts altogether (not checked underlines or piri's yet, that's a job for Sunday ;))
