Since we moved to our smallholding last August I've been commuting to East London every day and doing out of hours on call which means staying over in London on evenings and weekends.
But NO MORE !
Just been offered a job local to me only a 20minute commute in the car down nice clear roads, no more getting up at 5am ( although I'll probably still wake up then) unless I want to go for a run/ ride. ;D ;D
Just wanted to share so excited.

definitely cool,
think how much time this will free up for extra work on the holding!!!

Congratulations, well done you

I know brilliant, although I might still fall asleep on the sofa/in the polytunnel (years of doing on call means I am very good at catnapping in any environment) . Husband says we can get sheep now. :sheep:

Excellent! Your OH will be writing a list of ways for you to fill your time. Actually sheep will do that nicely :sheep: :sheep:

You will find that no commuting makes such a huge difference to your life. And how exciting to be getting some sheep. Which breed are you thinking of?

Well done. What are you going to do with all the extra time

thanks guys have been celebrating with elderflower cordial and champagne (v nice bit sozzled!) On the sheep front probably wiltshire horn and we can also start breeding our pigs now rather than getting weaners to fatten. Definately glad we decided to just go for it last year when we moved out of London rather than waiting for the right job and everything to be in place first.

Congratulations - I'm sure the sheep will more than make up for all those overnighters and call outs that you'll be missing... :D

Commuting in the London rush hour!! Just awful.
I used to cycle across the Parks - not so bad. On a good tube day, the tube took 17-22 minutes. On a bad tube day I took 23 minutes, same as I did every other day - and the tube could take an hour and a half! No contest.
I do miss the cycling but I do not miss London!
