I've spoken to her - she is unhappy at the way one particular person has treated her on here.  Doubt if he will change. So it may be very difficult to get her back.

Could she just put that person on 'ignore'? and know that the rest of us really value her and would miss her?
Such a shame that anyone should feel so bad  :-\

Karen agrees now that she'd have been better to just use the 'ignore' feature for robert, but being such an open genuine person herself she always believes she can talk him round with sense and facts - and of course it never works.

Ok, I've thought of something may help.

Personally I never thought I would want to use the 'Ignore' feature, but in this case I wonder whether, if we all 'Ignore' the person we'd rather see leave, the one we want to keep would come back...?

I've done it.  Fingers crossed. :fc:

(To ignore someone, click on Profile, then Modify Profile, then Buddies/Ignore list... then Edit Ignore List and add the member you want to ignore to the list.)

I just wonder whether if Karen realises that pretty much everyone whose opinion she values is ignoring him anyway, there'd be no reason for her to not return...

I've just put the offender on my IGNOR list , the first time I've been compelled to use it,
( I'm probably on a few peoples myself )
99% of the things I post are tongue in cheek anyway and not meant to offend anyone,  :fc:   but I think you all are well aware of that. :innocent:

Yes, Tiz - but you use appropriate 'smileys'  Said offender sometimes forgets to use them or uses the wrong ones. ;) ;D

It can be the trouble with online discussions - you don't get people's facial expressions or tone of voice added to the words.

Some folk are quite skilled at conveying a lot of the 'extra' with the smileys, some people have enough issues with typing without trying to do that too.

Some folk have very thin skins, some very thick ones, both in how they express themselves and how they take things - I guess most of us are somewhere in the middle. If it would take a blunderbuss to upset you, maybe you assume other folk are as robust?

Yes, agree with that Jaykay, said as much in the other thread about this.

I try to use the icons, to add a bit of clarity.

Perhaps things have happened that we don't know about and I don't tend to look at some of the sections on here anyway.

Wonder if the people concerned could not have a private chat to clear the air  ???  It is a shame for people to feel so upset that they have to leave. It could be that the other person involved doesn't realise the upset they have caused. You can't always tell on here how people are taking your comments and so can't modify your response.

Karen is the first person I got to know through TAS and I will miss her good sense and emotional support of everyone who needed it, offering reiki and comfort. She has always given so much - and still does in many other areas  :bouquet: .  What a shame we didn't pick up on the fact that she was feeling bullied so we could help her before it came to this  :( .

It's good to see that Karen has the support of lots of us on here.  I hope she will come back once the ruckus has settled

Karen says that Lillian is one of her best friends, but she has had enough of Robert.  Perhaps Lill will be able to sort things out between them.

I've mailed both HH & Lill and maybe a peace can be brokered.
Its not an unuusual situation i detest the wife of one of OH's best friends, she gets up my nose being all superior and that so i stay away if poss and if i have to be around her i'm as cordial as i can be which must really annoy her!

I really like Karen - she is lovely but I don't like the way this is turning. Yes, Karen has fallen out with Robert but this feels a bit like bullying to me and I'm not sure Karen would like all she has said being quoted on here either  :-\
With this bad taste in my mouth, I'm off to retrieve my lost sheep and consider if I too will leave. This isn't the TAS I've grown to love  :(

We definitely don't need to lose you as well Plums!  :o

Maybe we all need to take a deep breath, remember to be tolerant and kind (I'm sure I do at times  :-\)

Oh Plums - It is not nice but fall outs happen. Don't you go as well  :( .

Think most of the time, the forum is a happy place to be and there are bound to be clashes of personality sometimes.  :eyelashes:

Oh bugger , i hate it when this happens .
I try not to pick sides at times like this , as it makes me feel like Mathew Hopkins , or a member of the kkk !
I know i suffer from foot in mouth , but that's just me , i say things as they appear to me ,at the time.
I have no idea what has gone on , i miss huge amounts due to mobile phone connection , but Karen , you will be missed mate . I can't do emails so if you stay 'gone' drop me a text now and then .
As for dealing with peeps that get up my nose or piss me off , i just tell them to feckoff . Works for me lol .
I know things i say get up peoples noses , but what i say is always just my view , i only direct comments at someone if they have done so at me .
But some can tend to get personal and go too far , that't when i tell them to feckoff .
Life is way to short to take hassle from anyone , so i don't , neither should anyone else .
Now where is the tar and feathers and the rope ?

Here I am (thanks to Dan for re-activating me  ;))  :innocent:
I'm utterly ashamed of my drama queen antics, and the completely immature way I handled the situation last night. I try to have a thick skin - but I just don't  :-\
I take things personally and way too much to heart  :-[

But, I'd just like to set the record straight, before anything gets anymore out of hand...
Yeah, it was Robert who upset me - but I didn't say that openly on the forum (regular pig board readers would have figured it out though, so I don't think it's any huge big deal that it's been brought into the open  ;)) and I doubt Robert is bothered about it - he even likes being the cause of controversy so I'm sure he's chuckling  ;)
There was no bullying - well, I don't feel bullied and I don't think I've bullied anyone.
We all have different views and that's fine - what works for one person doesn't work for another and vice versa that's fine with me.
I don't take well when someone tells me something can't be done though, when I've been doing it and trying to explain how to help others out.

Thank you to everone who's phoned, texted and emailed to offer support, ask me to come back and convince me to utilise the 'ignore' button  :D You guys are great, you all know who you are  ;) :-* :-* :-*

Anyway, I'll stop rambling, gotta go and get my OSB into the shed - she's looking milky
Thanks again everybody, X x X x X
Karen

Plums don't you dare leave.  You are one of the reasons I stayed as a newbie lacking confidence. You showed such support and understanding without the slightest hint of judgement of a novice.  I love reading your posts and the first paragraph of your post above shows what a fair, level headed, lovely lady you are.  I still don't have a huge deal of confidence in forging my way in the TAS community but I will persevere and hopefully make many forum friends.  You too would be such a loss to TAS.
PS Hope you found your lost sheep  :sheep:
