I know it's a long shot, but anyone who reads the sheep thread will know we lost our dearly loved and incredibly tame North Ronaldsay wether to copper poisoning a couple of weeks ago. He was a one off, and was very special and could never be replaced, but he has left a large hole in our hearts, so we were wondering if there might possibly be another stupidly tame wether/ram, or possibly even a ewe out there, looking for a new home. We have a very small flock of North Ronaldsay's. Another NR would be wonderful, or another small primitive, but we are willing to consider any sized sheep that is as docile as anything! Ours was cuddly tame, and loved spending time with us, so that is what we would be after really. We can offer a wonderful forever home in Devon. We are willing to travel for the right sheep, and are not expecting a freebie, so are happy to pay.
Can anyone help us? I have two devastated children :( :fc:

Can't help, but there are a few "farm animal sanctuaries" around the place e.g. http://www.farmanimalrescue.org.uk/index2.html (http://www.farmanimalrescue.org.uk/index2.html)

Hi - thanks, will have a look. I have looked at a couple of farm animal sanctuary, but they mostly seem to keep the animals they get, and just ask for donations instead. They don't seem very interested in moving them on to new homes? I have found one in Somerset that possibly does though, but its not just finding a sheep, it's finding the right sheep!

I might be a bit far for you, (Hampshire/berkshire border)
But I have a wether lamb that hasnt grown, and unfortunatly I dont want to keep him so when the big lambs go off to slaughter he will have to go aswel even though I cant see him as good eating.
He is a Lleyn cross texel, but looks like a tiny Lleyn, he is very tame and will come up to you for chest and belly rubs and if you sit with him he will lie down next to you. He is just very very tiny!! he looks awful next to my other beefy ones. He was born in march this year.

We are in West Cornwall and have some lovely Shetland wethers or even some sweet ewes which you would be very welcome to choose from. I have new lambs as well if you want to wait until weaning (eg Wilfred has been ringed and I have serious doubts about his fleece quality - he's the colour of a pigmy goat!). We may be too far, but I wouldn't charge someone offering such a good home.

Have sent you a PM Calvadnack - hope it worked, it's the first time I have done it!! :)

You could come and choose one of our badger faced cade lambs as I would much rather one had a good home than the enevitable. They are not wquite primitive but nearly there!

I have a very tame ram lamb born 15 April still has 3 bottles a day we call him forest he would rather be following our 2 year old around the garden than be a sheep. He will be destined for the freezer eventually iv he stays here but would part with him for 40! Eventually he may decide he really is a sheep and might actually become z daddy as he is unwethered!
We are in Devon. If you want to come and see him you are welcome

Got a Ryeland ram who's soft as a brush, likes his ears tickled, up in Cumbria though, but you could make a weekend of it in The Lakes. Not a freebie but would fit the bill with children I'm sure.
