Hi, my name is Kara and along with my husband we are lucky enough to have brought 27 acres to live on and farm. Back when we brought the land 2 years ago, I had a vision of lovely summer evenings tending to the stock, but the British weather is keeping that at bay for the moment !
I currently live here with our two dogs, 7 Dexter Cows and 9 pigs of varying varieties. At the moment, as well as working in my day job, I am starting to breed from our lovely SBx and GOS sows to get more experience with the pigs. I want to breed something that is good tasting, but more importantly outdoor reared & raised. There is nothing quite like watching a group of weaners hurtling down the field for the first time :) Out first piglets were born 9 weeks ago, which was quite an experience and are now about to be sold.
Anyway, lovely to be here, and some really good articles to read .......

Hello Karabowman and welcome to the forum. Lovely part of the Country Wawickshire. All my family are from Rugby. Afraid I know nothing about cattle and pigs at the moment so will be looking to you for advice soon.

Hi Kara
Just a Hello from a fellow Newbie - in your county, only have 2.5 acres, but breed Zwartble sheep, Light Sussex Chickens & bantams and have two cross weaners. Would love to talk pigs with you some time.
