Not Donkey Kong Tizaala or Divaous, he is Sunny Jim. He was going to be Sonny but he has such a sunny disposition.

That is so wonderful, not sure where you live until I check but I know there are a lot of sea side rescue donkeys around, so nice to see a new birth!!

What lovely pics.  I have never seen a donkey being born (pretty much like a sheep  ;D )
I love the photo of their two heads side-by-side, getting to know eachother.  And the one still in the bag, nearly there.  My camera would have been shaking with the excitement  :D

Can we have more pics when he's skipping around please?

Did you have to cut the cord on your donkey foal Sokel? This is the 3rd time I have had to step in and do the deed, donkeys seem to have incredibly thick ones.

They are pretty much like a sheep, with longer legs and nose so the head does come out a bit easier but if you get a leg back it could be tricky.

No the cord actualy snapped but I had to tie it off and cut it shorter as it was so long it nearly trailed on the floor  ::)
this is the first foal for us and she wasnt planned

He is all fluffed up today. Thought I had better get my cudddle before he grows too big.We always do this with donkey foals as they seem to trust you afterwards.

Awww, so cute !
And interesting about the cuddle too, we notice a similar thing with some of the piglets who seem to get more cuddles than others  :innocent:
He's lovely

It never ceases to amaze me how they are born with heads that big and the legs that long, where did they hide in mum?
Lovely pics Lynda

He is beautiful and I love his name. Yesterday I went out with Emma-Louise. She was riding Teka but I had Rory in his driving harness and long reins. We went up past my friend Paula who has 3 donkeys. The stallion came hee- hawing up the field. Neither Rory or Teka had seen or heard a donkey up close so we had fun and games getting past him. I often hear him in the distance but up close he sounds very loud in your ears.  ;D

Aw those are lovely pictures Thanks for sharing.  Funny I woke up on Saturday thinking 'I want a couple of Donkeys'  but I have no idea why. OH not keen - help me here can they be a 'useful' addition to a smallholding?

There is a lot said about llamas and alpacas guarding sheep FiB, well donkeys would see a fox or a stray dog off! Any good! But really they are an anti depressant, cheer me up all the time. I am glad you are enjpying the photos. Hopefully he can have a couple of hours at grass tomorrow for another photo shoot.

Sold!  Thanks.  And interesting thought re anti depressant - I am looking at opening our 'doors' as part of the care farm scheeme - so that fits too.  Off to research what they like and need and nearby Donkey rescue centres.......
