Just received this in an email thought I'd pass it on -
Free to good home –
8 year old chocolate Brown Labrador.
Has to be re-housed in next few weeks to avoid the inevitable as current owner is having all dogs removed from the property by enforcement action and this dog is considered too old for dog rescue.
Not much knowledge of history other than largely left to own devices in a property with three other dogs for approx 3 years and not walked very often.
He appears friendly with people and other dogs but this only taken from a short time observing his behaviour.
Do not know if house trained or if good with children.

Will Labrador rescue not help?

I'm sure they would but if the RSPCA are involved and a case pending they will keep a tight hold on all the dogs unless it can be done before they see them. We were involved in a case a couple of years ago - had a home ready for the sole Brittany in a neglect case with a large number of labs. They wouldn't let us near her - not even to assess her. She was 3 and as far as we can gather they had let her go to an unsuitable home(they are working hot gundogs, not suitable just to be pets, they need work) and had to be rehomed a second time.
So yes, please contact Lab rescue if not too late. They will have homes waiting. This is the South East England website - but there is a branch in every area

I personaly don't know anything about it, it came out on a group email, having seen that some in this group like their labs I just thought I would pass it on.
maybe someone with more knowledge could inform the chap who to contact?

isn't it sad that 8 yrs old is considered too old to rescue?

That's what I thought, when you see the old 'crossbreds' that the RSPCA seem to take in on TV programmes ??

I very much doubt that rescues will not take an 8 yr old dog in but there is also the oldies club who only rescue older dogs

Our breed club has rehomed 11 and 12 year olds. One of my friends took a lad on aged 10 who had only ever been a pet, and proceeded to teach him to work on her local shoot.
