Witnessed an interesting thing today - our Tamworth feeds her 5 week piglets standing ???
Just not seen this with our Berkshires and Gloucestershires - mind you they would have trouble as their milk bar is on the ground.
Is this the norm with Tamworths? This is her first litter. She is tall.

Not got any experience with Tams I'm afraid Nelson ... but ...
... 2 of my Kune Kune sows will suckle piglets standing. Usually at feeding time, when mum's up on her feet tucking-in & the piglets are getting a quick drink in while waiting for their creep feed :yum: ;D
It only happens with these 2, who are bigger & taller than the other girls - as you so rightly pointed-out - milk bar's too close to the ground with the others ;)
 :pig:

I've just never seen it with my other pigs. Of course seen piglets suckling whilst mum is on her feet but this was full let down and she continues to feed that way. I am just amazed at the different things you see with pigs everyday. ;)

one of our tammies feeds standing up, and occassionally our gos does.
