Title: Old English Pheasant Fowl
Post by: HelenVF on June 27, 2012, 07:02:47 pm
Does anyone know if the cockerels are worth anything?  I hatched some off this year (April) and don't need the cockerels.  Don't want to cull them as they are on the rare breeds list, and don't want to give them away if they are worth something.

Thanks  :)

Only occasionally, if someone wants to alter their breeding lines.

I used to keep them and never found that the cockerels were worth anything, since of course you hatch equal numbers but only need 1 for every 5-10 hens. So there is always an oversupply of cockerels.

By all means advertise them but I'd be ready to eat them too.

Thanks.  I did suspect that.  I'll stick them on preloved for a bit just to see.
