Title: Osprey
Post by: sabrina on June 27, 2012, 01:47:49 pm
Anyone see the Scottish news at lunch time. shown was a Buzzard stealing an Osprey chick from its nest seconds after mother left the nest. Not a good sign, one chick left and no doubt Buzzard will be back.

Oh no  :o   Surely they have watchers at Osprey nests?  They need a giant water pistol to see off the buzzard.

Mr buzzard obviously hasn't been told that the ospreys are protected.

Some more positive news, was at Fyvie Castle today doing a lime mortar and lime harling course(excellent 2 day course) and an osprey flew over the lake with a brown trout in its talons....:-)))

Might have been interesting if it was a sea eagle - That would have been the cat among the pigeons!

Would love to have seen the RSPB / SNH bluster their way through saying  that one didn't happen - Although that said we didn't see it being eaten - maybe it was taking it for a hunting lesson or a game of footie or something equally absurd
