We had to have one of our farm cats put to sleep last week :'( due to somehow having broken her shoulder. Today in the post, came a lovely card from the Vets with a hand written Condolenses message in it. How lovely was that :) .

Gosh, I bet thats rare. Never heard of it before anyway.
Well done that vets

Sorry you lost your cat :bouquet: sounds a very painful injury.
Some practices really make you feel a sense of worth, well done them

We had one too ...... when our old dog was PTS ....... that must have been at least 8 years ago. Mind, he had been a well paying customer for the last few years of his life. ::) ;D
Sorry about your moggy :bouquet:

Sad about your cat but what a lovely vet you have. :bouquet:

Sorry to hear about your cat :'(
Both our vet practices (Broadleys and Parkside) do this. It's a nice gesture. Wonder if they do it for sheep...
-
Our practise does this too :)

Sorry to hear about your cat :(
Our vets do that, and our previous ones. Just a nice thought really.

What a nice gesture.
Sadly, the only thing we get in the post, from our vet, is the bill.

What a nice thing to do
But I'm very sorry you lost your cat :-*

Thanks folks for all the messages. Rosemary - no, sheep definately don't get the same treatment :innocent: LOL.
We took the two cats on when we moved here just over 4 years ago and I believe both originated from the CPL. Both have always been very friendly but have always lived outside and have certainly never visited the vet since we've been here....and I doubt the previous owners ever took them as they both had slightly wonky limbs from where 'he' had clonked 'em with his car!!!! I think Ginger must have fallen or something because there was absolutely no sign of the hair having been broken in that area...it was very strange. She was a good hunter, albeit it not catching the critters we wanted her to catch ::) but we do miss her being around. Kitty doesn't seem to miss her though - typical cat, me, me, me

awww sorry to hear about your cat Blinkers :(
Our vets send out a card with a packet of forget me not seeds in too.
Also an excellent vet :trophy:

Thanks again all. The other one (who never liked Ginger anyway!!!!) hasn;t left the feed shed since?!?! She's sleeping on the pig nuts just like Ginger used to do. I guess she's either thinking she's missing Ginger OR (more likely) she's thinking Weyhey, got the place to myself now and I can do EXACTLY what I WANT ...... bless her :)

That was nice of the vet, I had to have a cat PTS on new years day and was so delighted to get a card from the vet, simple thanks go a long way and I suppose the more we respect our vet the more trade they get!
That did sound nasty...poor cat!

Hi I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I'm a vet nurse and we always sent out cards, we really do mean it especially if it's a well known pet whe came in a lot. A favourite patent was put to sleep about a month ago. Very elderly etc but I cried as I wrote the card to his family. I'm such a wet blanket!
-
That is so nice :) Our previous vet used to send cards out but this one doesn't appear to - having said that, I took the body of my poor run over cat to the vets to be cremated as I couldn't bear Mr Fox digging this one up too. As yet, they've not invoiced me and it must be 6 weeks now?

No you're definately not a wet blanket - you CARE about your patients and your patients owners. Good on ya :-* :-*

I like to think she enjoyed her life with us here :fc: :cat: . Kitty STILL hasn't left the feed shed ??? but seems completely happy to sleep on the pig nuts (use the litter tray....or fairly near it ! :innocent: ) and take her time over her food. Strange cos she was the one who used to appear at meal times and then disappear for the rest of the day ::) .

Sorry to hear about Ginger. :bouquet:
We had a card when we had our GSD PTS. I thad been written by the vet who did the deed, who is a friend of ours, and said that Gurney was one of the gentlest Shepherds she had ever met. It made us feel heaps better.
