Well we are a but gutted this evening cause we gathered some of our commercials today and discovered 5 lambs are missing. These are not small lambs but large enough to wean. We know they are not dead and have not strayed but they are just not there. Ewes are fine.
So our only conclusion is they have been stolen or abducted by aliens but my bet is on stolen.
They are kept in a secluded field down a country track with a footpath down the side, so easy pickings really.
Police have been notified, but can do little, but there has been a spate of thefts around the Bransgore area not far from us.
So my words to the thieves are this
I hope your testicles shrivel and dry up and may our lambs bring untold trouble to you.
Sorry if i offend anyone cause i'm sure they wouldn't sign up to this forum they would be on a lowlife one but i don't feel like sending nice thoughts to people who steal my lambs.

Those people aren't worth giving a name to!!! They are the lowest of low life.
:bouquet: it's bad enough losing an animal without the anger of somebody taking them as well. (( big hugs))
-
I just find it despicable that people can do this. And that on top of all the other problems you have had this year :bouquet:

The thing that puzzles me is how they get hold of just 5. If they had a dog theyd have to gather the lot, surely? Ive got chains and padlocks, better start rooting through the shed for em. But then, if they are shooting the lambs or summat then it wont do me much good. Do the coppers know how they are nicking em?
-
Oh I'm sorry :-*
I really hope they haven't been stolen and that they appear again somehow.
-
Yes the coppers know, this is land we rent and we have chains on the gate. It s puzzling us too about the 5, but we fed there when they were baby lambs and then cut the feed when the grass came through. Every night we did a quick check round to make sure no deads or strike etc but we didn't count up cause too many of them. It's only when we took the book and gathered them in marrying tags of lambs to ewes that we realised we are 5 short.
This means they've gone missing since we sheared and wormed about two weeks ago, which also corresponds to the other thefts in the area. Its just we didn't pick it up straight away so the trail is now cold.
All lambs are back at the farm now to finish so only the ewes remain at this field. Its just a bummer but a sad fact of life these days and nothing and nobody is immune.
We've never had this before and i always felt sorry for those who did, it's just one of those years. I am really angry more than upset, they weren't pets or anything but we treat our sheep well and they should not be subjected to this. I would be more upset if they were baby lambs, now i am thinking more of the financial loss and the fact we may have to rethink what we put in this field in the future.
-
NO!!!!! Blimmin' heck! that would be the end for me! I swear, i would never ever get over it. :o( Really feel for ya!
-
So so sorry Feldar. I just can't understand some people. How can they think it's fine to steal such a thing! Such an awful thing to happen. Thankfully we have friends and neighbours who keep an eye out for anything dodgy but I know we still aren't immune and I don't know how I would be if it happened to ours.

Anybody who steals anything off anyone is scum or troubled - or troubled scum.
I know for a fact that my business relies on a trust with a wider society - its impossible to lock all you assets up, tools, tractors, livestock, fuel and well - just about everything. You cant lock the lot up - you depends on the manners of the rest of the world to leave you as is.
Not making excuses as their is obviously people who inherantly dont know what trust and respect is. But with this government I wouldnt be surprised if all the desparate go so much so they have to resort to crime in order to survive.
Political stance is turning to s**t in this country - I dont care if you dont want to support the 'useless' - and they dont care either cos if you dont support them indirectly, they have no respect and will take it direct.
I agree, doubt you will find them, but my heart felt condolance to you.
The thing with animal theft is you know in the background their is a whole chain of unscrupolous people and not just the loaders.
Scum stealing stock. Hope you dont have anymore thefts - and remember although never let you guard down - remember that most of the time, their are many good people. Dont lose hope.

So sorry for your lost lambs , as long as the halal market is keeping prices artificialy high this sort of thing is going to keep happening. What are we looking at here? £60-80 each so up to £400 loss.
If they are taking small numbers then a small van would be less obvious than a stock trailer. Total bastards.

It is a sad fact of life and nobody is immune these days, insurance company have been on to us and have been brilliant, we didn't want to claim if it meant our insurance would go sky high etc but we are covered for theft and straying.
Police can't do anything except give us a crime number and said they would do more fly bys in future along that road but its too late now and i don't blame them they are so stretched these days too.
We did hear back in April a chap down Ringwood way had his Orphan lambs stolen from inside a barn! that would be distressing.
At least ours were weaning age and on solids more convenient for the theives i expect!
Trouble is our sheep are quiet too, cause we feed them, so to take out of the feed line would be easy.
