I am having severe problems with my joints - as yet not diagnosed - and bad enough to mean that my OH has to help me up from the milking bench and I can't get up from anything higher without something to pull on.
I also have three goats with hooves that are very overdue for a trim. Is there anyone not too far from Telford who could help me out by doing it for me? My OH is happy to hold them and I can as well, just not bend. My OH is blind so I'm not letting him have a go!!!

Wish I was close enough to help with lots of guidance on length. :o. I Clip beaks and claws regularly on different species and have helped with pony hooves.
Now I see you are glad I'm not too close :innocent: ;D
Hope somebody closer comes along soon, for your nerves sake before I'm passing your way

Unfortunately we are too far away to help. Is there anyone nearby who has goats, or maybe sheep? I am sure they would be able to trim your goats hooves.
I too have joint problems, my knees and finger joints are swollen, and hand milking is difficult sometimes for me, but fortunately I can still manage.

Sorry leslie, can't drive at the moment, is it worth calling your vet out , or is there a sheep farmer you know closer that might help? :fc:

I'm too far too :P
Is there a local goat society? Or as Tizz says, a sheep farmer?
-
wish we were nearer, sorry to hear you are having more problems....
have you contacted the local smallholder's association, or Snowcloud's breeder?
Or actually, if you have a good friend or neighbour, they don't have to be goat-experienced if you are there to supervise... we all started somewhere!

Are you on Facebook?Try asking on Lindas goats someone might answer with help

or 'goaty friends' on FB.

Sorry to hear this and you have my deep sympathy and empathy for painful joints and problems getting up and down :( Hope you manage to get it sorted - if it is so bad that you can't do regular routine animal care, I can see that that really is a problem.
I would think that any sheep or horse owning people nearby should be able to help if there are no goaty people. Sorry, but we too are too far away - two and a half hours. But if we come your way at all I will give you a shout first.
All the best :bouquet:

Thanks everyone. I manage to sort the problem out as someone who used to live with us ad was very involved in the goats said she would do it and did so yesterday. I was reluctant to ask her a she has mental health problems but she said she was feeling quite good at the moment so I siezed the chance. She used to look after them when we went away but has been so unreliable for the last couple of years so I have't asked her for help but in the end, she enjoyed it and the goats are looking more comfortable.
I do have another friend who lives nearby and who wants to get involved (she used to breed BSs) but doesn't do hooves. She's scared she will cut too much off.
Anyway, they're done now so I don't have to worry for another few weeks. Hopefully the joint problems will be sorted by then.

Glad you got it sorted MGM

I'm glad you got it sorted, I was worried about you and them :-*
Have you seen some of the ideas on Sally's (Bionic) thread about joint pain?
