I went to the local spinning club for the first time this afternoon and they were very welcoming. Its more of a chatty informal group that I suspect the guild groups are but it suited me.
There is one male member who tweaked my old wheel for me and added a couple of new parts and the wheel is running much better now.
The members aren't all spinners. One was knitting and another was peg looming.
The club owns a drum carder so (once I get my feet under the table) I will be able to borrow it to see if I think its worth me buying one. They also own a large peg loom which can be borrowed.
All in all I think it was a successful afternoon and I shall be going again next Tuesday.

Fab - that sounds lovely - My local spinning group meets on the first Tuesday of the month when i'm working. I'm tempted to take a day off and go along
