Title: Sheep haulier or transporter required Lancashire to Scotland
Post by: tobytoby on June 19, 2012, 11:21:27 am
Does anyone have a contact number of a Livestock haulier that could transport 8 sheep from lancashire to Glasgow/Ayrshire? Do you know approx transport charges?

If someone was travelling South to North with an empty trailer, i would cover all their costs etc. PM me if you could help.

Try ardross animal transport (Gordon George  01491 681619). Based much further south but might have another job if your not in a rush.

I got my wiltshires brought up to aberdeenshire by Longthornes who are based at Skipton I think.
It was my local haulier Thompsons who when asked if they had anything coming up the road said they had not but Longthornes did.
I do not know if this helps.

Crofterloon - can i be so rude as to ask you what they charged? Do you have a contact name/number, as they are less than 10 miles from where the sheep are based.

For 30 ewes and 2 tups Warwick to Fraserburgh it was £250 in total, that was 2009 or 2010.
I do have a card but cannot find it on the net there is Longthornes Hebden Bridge 01756 752332.
The driver lived in skipton but they seemed to have lorries going all over.01756 752332

Robert you are right Thompsons was my first choice was I had used them before but they had recommended Longthornes ,as Thompsons at the time could not do the job. Either company has been helpfull and good to deal with. The funny thing was I phoned Thompsons they said they had nothing at that time and gave me Longthornes number, Longthorne said they had a lorry unloading in South Wales. I think the lorry was over at Warwick around midday and I received the animals about 2.30 the next morning. I used Thompsons once to pick up animals at Lockerbie they were good as well easy to deal with.
