Large Black piglets arriving as I type :o We didn't think Grumpy had been got by Bonking Bob - seems he got in there quick on the day he arrived and caught her right at the end of her season, we thought we'd timed it perfectly for July too ::)
8 so far, we lost count at 4 boars, 2 gilts - not sure how the current score stands :-\
So a quick pic to tug at the heart strings :innocent:

Fantastic :trophy: :trophy:
-
Definitely awwwww

Gorgeous! Grumpy and bonking bob - love it.

Congratulations!!!!! :pig:
-
Awww, they are so sweet
-
is it still 8?
-
Bless! Congratulations to all :-*

Still 8 Julia, but not bad for a first litter I think. All piglets doing well and Large Black mum seems to be showing OSB tendancies and rooting through the straw to locate piglets before lying down (my older LB sow doesn't do this ?) I was a bit worried as she's a first time mum and was affectionately known as Psyco until recently :o :D Not a nasty pig - but if you want her to go one way, she'll go the other ::) Go near her in the field with a pig board and she used to start running in circles :D Here's hoping motherhood will settle her down (a bit) :fc:
Thanks for all the congratulations folks :-*
-
 Awwwww   congratulations
-
Well done Mrs and Grumpy & Bob too.
Motherhood normally settles them down and i found the more of a diva they are the better mums they are, they sort of go all mumsy.
All the best, fingers crossed for some better weather for them. been dreak for a week here!

Absoloutely gorgeous Karen - must get down to see them soon
-
We've lost one :( but 5 boars and 2 gilts all doing well
Julia, your poor girl - it's hellish hanging on ;) Hope she gets on with it soon :fc:
Lynne, welcome anytime - the kettle is always on............
-
Love love love the names!
What are the piglets called?
-
piglets will be mainly for the table so wont get names!!!
i got to see them in the flesh today whilst collecting pork from hippy, they are so cute!!!
one of them is going in my freezer when its fully grown :-)
-
Not fully grown Bloomer - it'd take two freezers ;)
We've not named the piglets.......yet ! They always end up with some kind of identifier ::) Even if it ends up being 'Pest', as in the case of the cute but mischevious Kunekune who's destined not to be here forever.
So anyway, so much for my timings :-\ We've got three litters of Large Black piglets, all born last week (things have been a bit hectic :D ) and the good news is that both sows with the rarer bloodlines have produced some good gilts - we're very happy about that
I'll get more photo's later on and get them posted - in the meantime, if anyone is thinking about breeding stock or weaners fort he freezer just gimmie a shout :innocent:
Karen
-
you know what i mean
bacon weight :-)
-
3 litters 8) what % are you finishing compared to selling as weaners, or is it wait and see - just being nosy :innocent: i would love to see 3 litters charging about, you'l have to film them, v cute.
-
Oh they are so gorgeous. Well done.
I'm always tempted to get a few more from you but I think Lumpy, Shorty and Brother are quite enough.
On that note, thanks for giving our pigs such sensible names.
Wouldn't want to be shouting Bonking Bob at 7am in the morning
Love to you all
xxxxxx

I'm sure there are folk who think Lumpy, Shorty and Bro are sensible names Jo ;) :D :D
We have got plenty of litters of Kunekunes due.............sometime ::) :-\ I'll send you some photo's once they arrive :innocent:

Can't wait to get them notched and out into the field - you're right, it will be amazing to see them all running about. I'll have to get my finger out and learn how to do videos (and get them uploaded successfully ;) )
I'm not sure how many we're keeping yet, definately a case of waiting and seeing how many sell as weaners ;) All the boys have been castrated though, so there's no worries if we do end up with a few 'extra' to pork weight.
It'll definately be at least 4 of the 6 gilts from the two rarer bloodlines for future breeding (the mums are starting to get on a bit in years now) and we've got one or two "grow your own" orders for whole pigs and we need to keep the freezer topped up ................. yeah, could end up with a few extra :innocent: ;D
Any sign of your Tamworth piglets yet ? Or is madam still hanging on ::) ;D
