We've just picked up our weaners for this year from Sue and Mike Melville at Strowan Home Farm. They have a couple of litters that will be ready soon and half a litter ready now. They also have a few pigs ready for slaughter.
We've had pigs from them for about four years and they have been very good - and very good natured.
If you want to buy, contact Sue on 07887566836 or 01764 652684.

Have you any idea of the bloodlines and if they're pedigree registered?

She is a roseleaf and should be in-pig to a jasper.
I, too am in Scotland

I have just called Sue and arranged to buy the two boars who will be the brothers of the gilts Rosemary picked up on Saturday. We will run up sometime this week to pick them up.

I think they will be registered but no idea of bloodlines as we only buy them for the freezer. Call Sue, she'll be happy to tell you.

Very excited.. just ordered 4 gilts, picking up in a couple of weeks.

No of course you havent asked the wrong questions or not asked the right ones, its just me being nosy. I assumed you were breeding from them.

possibly some useless info
according to the BPA in 2004 226 tamworths were registered. this is not a total but the numbers added to the register. this should make tracing bloodlines a little easier
dont know the current numbers

Tamworths are an endangered species. In 2007 there was a total of 466 registered sows and 185 registered boars. The Milenium bloodline has just 1 boar left. In 2008 there was a total of 397 registered sows and 156 registered boars. Its vital that anyone who has registered animals birth notifies their offspring.
