Title: Help with duck
Post by: Chris H on June 10, 2012, 07:02:31 pm
One of my ducks stopped eating on Friday, no trauma, looks fine, she drinks a little but I cannot get her to eat, tried all sorts of goodies and grit, no good :(  I did give a small amount of metacm this morning, and she is up and about but is away a little from the rest of the girls, i even let them all onto the croft today for a peck about, she went out with the others but no eating. Ideas please, i checked her mouth and beak they seem fine, no discharge, eyes bright but this evening she does look subdued. Is the vet the best bet tomorrow?

I always use Flubenvet for worming - you can put a tinsy amount in either very fine breadcrumbs in water (my ducks love it in milk but milk would not be good if there is a tummy issue).  A bit on a worm may work if she doesn't want the breadcrumbs.  Make sure she is warm - is she being harassed by males/females?  Its very possible you vet won't be too knowledgeable about ducks.
