Just posting this as a new thread in case there are others out there experiencing the same problem - gosling with weak legs doing the splits, pic of my daughter with the gosling showing a figure of 8 made with some surgical tape, it was on 2 days (with much falling over but getting stronger and learning to get itself up) and then pics without the tape and gosling doing well. It is one of 6, the others all being a bit stronger, but it is catching up. Thanks to all those who gave advice.

Ah, that's great. Thanks for posting this

Bless him - I hope he/she continues to make such good progress

Excellent! It's very satisfying when they recover isn't it? :)

O so cute. Hope it recovers well.

Sad to say our little yeller feller died today. He/she was doing really well and looked almost identical to the rest but today somehow seemed noticeably smaller. Seemed fine and eating this morning, then about an hour later was lying dead in the goose pen, didn't look squashed. Was probably just a weak one poor wee thing. We still have a healthy 5 goslings left though.
Ganders wife No2 decided she would stop sitting on what was left of her egg pile (she was left with 3 eggs after having a pile of about 20, slowly being eaten away by something out there). So they are all happy in the pen together, 1 gander, 2 ladies, 5 goslings.
All is well.

:bouquet: sorry to hear you lost the little un.
Would be nice to see pic vies of your gang together, glad they're doing well.

I'm sorry the little guy didn't make it :-* But glad everyone else is happy together
Mine are sitting again, both girls on the same nest, silly pair. So fingers crossed :fc:

Kissing cousins! or aunties at least, it's late to sit is it not? Hope it all goes well, let us know the outcome Jaykay.

Oh sorry GP - i always try with the 'smaller than normal' call ducks and sometimes they pull through and sometimes they don't, just one of natures things but it doesn't stop me trying :fc:

we have done that and it really works. sad that the gosling died.

Very sad :bouquet:

thats sad, we have had this in the past and tied the legs closer with string and after a few weeks they are ok.

Thanks all, I think geese are a bit clumsy footed and a kick or a trod can be devistating to a wee scrap of life. All the others seem healthy and inquisitive, just what happens, can't help feeling so sorry for such little life though - you do all you can do and that's it, fingers crossed, just hope its end was quick and painless.
