The cycling club my nephew is a member of is seeking funding so they can do more work with youths interested in cycling in Scotland. They've been shortlisted for funding from Lloyds Banking, and need public votes to support their application.
Please see the message below from Andy, the club's Youth Coach, and please consider voting - it doesn't take long and will make a real difference. You can vote by text message or on the website (details below).
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
I'm after your vote for Youth cycling. In short, Perth Utd & Tay Titans' application for funding from the Lloyds Banking Corp has been shortlisted to a public voting stage. We're not up against any other cycling organisation so I considered it reasonable enough to post to wider the cycling community. Every vote counts.
Our aim is to help our local youths reach their full potential in their chosen sport of cycling and this is a once in a lifetime chance for our small club to obtain significant funding that will help us create the cycling stars of the future. We're on a role and we want to continue.
Just click the profile link below to see what Perth based youth cycling is all about and then vote on line or text VOTE DD2 to 61119 (texts are charged at standard network rate).

Make sure you also check out the the YouTube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch9va-AWWfQ&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch9va-AWWfQ&feature=related) as it says more about what we're trying to achieve than I could ever put into words.
Voting will last until September and you will be able to see what the Youths are up to from their own Facebook page which will be up and running in the very near future.
Feel free to contact me if you want more information.
Many thanks.

I have texted a vote. I cycle everywhere these days. Can't afford petrol no more!

For me, cycling is a manner of transport, not a sport... I was on my bike throughout my youth and for many years afterwards - not any more, as it's far too dangerous here in Scotland! The only way funding could help cycling to become more popular is by building proper cycle paths in preference to yet more and faster roads...
But I've voted anyway. ;) Good luck with it.

Thanks all, much appreciated.
Ina, cycling is a great sport and a great means of transport, I think there's room for both.
We're really lucky here to live right next to the National Cycle Route 1, and there's investment for improvements most years. This year they are extending the coastal part to stretch from Carnoustie to Arbroath.
