Title: wanted chicks

Does anyone have any chicks upto four weeks old to add to my flock. Needs to be near Leicestershire. Thank you

Hi Becca

I have 20+ Pure breed LF Indian Game chicks that are 3-5 weeks old, I'm in Leicester.

I don't understand why everyone wants to buy hens when they could get them from www.BHWT.co.uk, except I suppose they aren't pretty and might not lay every day.

My neighbour gives my her battery farm chickens for free and they have always layed everyday. The problem is for one I want more of a utility bird and secondly I want to see what other chickens are like. Unfortuately I have fallen in love my blck cochins but they are going to market when they are big enough

Thanks for eveyones help but I have 18 chicks at the moment so I am not in need of anymore just as yet.

They should be "rechargeable battrey hens", with a bit of TLC theres plenty of life left in them, they produce enough eggs to keep us happy and make wonderful pets. Should be getting 15 more in June. Keep promoting them Annie, ex batts are the best.  ;D ;D :chook: :chook: :chook:

Perhaps not the best?but definitely the most rewarding. But lets be honest , there are so many breeds of chicken out there that if we only ever all got ex bats , they would all become extinct. Hurrah for choice and variety, and hurrah for giving those poor battery girls a bit of freedom at the end of their miserable existance.

I'm not really a chicken person, only like the eggs. For that they do the job. Not even keen on the meat. :)

I have quite a lot of battery hens that live out their lives with us whether they lay or not, try to get quite a few rescued a year and they free range here and are in on a night. Some of the best layers I have had have been battery hens, just goes to show, but could almost make you cry the state of them when we go to pick them up....they are put in a pen and fed and watered, loved and looked after, once they go out they don't even know what to do with the grass, its a shame but rewarding to see them once they are fully recovered. I do keep lots of other poultry as well which are for breeding etc, but do love my batteries.
