Hello,
Just a toe in the water really this one -
Does anyone have any Demijohns gathering dust on a shelf somewhere that I can take off your hands in exchange for a bottle of brew sometime in the future?
I can collect within a fair distance of SY17 postcode and promise they'll be put to good use!
Thanks!

I don't bother with demijohns any more...5lt water bottles with a bung and airlock in the lid work fine and cost very little

THAT is a great and simple tip - why have I not been doing that? ??? Duh.

You can actually buy them from wine making suppliers but I'm too mean to pay someone to drill a hole in a water bottle. I buy the bungs and airlocks (they have to be the little grommet type not the big demijohn bungs) and cheap water from the supermarket ;)

With a very sharp knife or hot soldering iron just cut a hole in the lid slightly smaller than the bung so its a tight fit.

I got all my demi-johns at the local re-cycling centre, 50p. each. I have lots if anyone nearby would like some.(free)

Where are you Sylvia?

I suppose those 5 litre containers for washing-up liquid would be ok to use, too? They are nice and strong material. I always regret having to dump them (even in the recycling - reusing would be so much better).

I'm in South Devon Suz, won't be getting rid of them if you're down this way any time :)
