Title: RIP
Post by: smudger on May 28, 2012, 11:10:27 am
My beautiful boy, pts on Friday. Why is it so painful even when you know the time has come (and you have known the day would come for months if not years). Bugger arthritis and bugger irresponsible breeders who perpetuate defects in breeds. He wasn't even 9 years old.

Anyway, he's now pain free and running around in the clouds above us, as I tell my daughter (and myself).

I'm so sorry!  Poor lad. Agree wholeheartedly, bugger ALL those who don't don't ALL the health checks before breeding.  Not just hips, but elbows, eyes, brains, bones - the basic list is on the kennel Club website. http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk/services/public/glossary/health-tests.aspx (http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk/services/public/glossary/health-tests.aspx)
No-one can say they don't know what needs to be tested for, and a DNA test is easy to do (swab inside cheek)
Run free over Rainbow Bridge, wee fella. :'( :'(

I wanted to say that I am thinking of you - have been through it too, and come time you will have the happy memories to keep forever. You have to hold on to the fact that you gave them a good life and at the end did the right thing for them. I am sure my Holly is running around somewhere pain free and happy as will your wee boy  :dog:

Thank you all. Yes, consoling myself that he had at least 6 decent years and we made the last few years the best we could. And yes, time will pass and I will remember him when he was alive and not his last few days and death.
