Title: Wanted Garden Shed
Post by: sandy on April 21, 2009, 10:10:04 am
Been looking for a shed and found they are expensive, some charge too much for delivery and some you can only buy in the store and they look too NEW!!!! I would prefer to buy a used on as it will look more worn and not stand out in the garden, trouble is transporting and dismantling them, we could hire a van and we can dismantle one but everytime one comes up we are either too busy to collect or too far away and expensive. I probably will end up with a cheap new one but first thought I would Ive this site a go, so, has anyone got a shed the no longer need, no bigger than 6x8 and not to far away, central Scotland.......Thanks

I would love a log cabin or childrens play house, there was a beautiful children's play hut on gumtree, about 40 miles away, we would have had to hire a van to transport it as it was too high for cars etc, as someone else was going to look at it the next day I did not take the chance. I have now decided would hire a large Van if the price was fair, also seen one on E Bay I like but still some time to go and it was £110 already!!!! I think all the ones I have seen on Ad trader, Gumtree, freecycle etc go very quick and you need a van and time on hand, so a new one may be in order unless I can find something local...Thanks, I will just have to keep on looking.

I am not sure if a shed would fit into a van, I think I would need a high box van, is that was Tam has? A while ago we had some furniture delivered by a local man with a box van, he was reasonable too. I have decided on a shed as I first tried to look for wood etc to make something then I thought I realy need something fairly large  as I want 2 more chickens as well as the Ducks I am getting so thought most bird housing is very expensive and I find mine awkward to clean out, a shed would be great and duel purpose but I would love one that is a bit more weathered to blend in a bit better, will pop out to measure up in a mo, must go to the bank soon as well but am trying to sort out some bits and bobs before I go.....anyway, I will keep looking...Thanks

i need a hand to put up a greenhouse  ;D

actually, in the next month i've got several major products (not that the seeds are all sown i don't have much to worry about!)

I have an old stable block to pull down
a new log cabin to erect
i've to pour some concrete on top of an old concrete foundation that is all bashed (don't drive a big tractor over concrete if it hasn't got a proper hard core base!) so that it's level again
i've got 1 new greenhouse to assemble and then i need to move the plastic one up to the new base
once the plastic one is moved, i can then start work on building my own polytunnel
and i've a water feature to get started on!!!!

then i need to build a coop for my chooks that'll be arriving soon!

oh my, i'm tired just looking at that list!!!!

We are the same, too much to do and no time, I run the B&B and it is great fun but, when the sun is out, I love to be in the garden and am looking forward to having some more Hens and Ducks, that is once we put the new shed up....We are having and ex guest come to errect it, all he needs is a good meal and a bed, we can provide that, I love rural life, it is hard work but so much better than city life, trouble is, the money is not the same, city money buys you "things" but country life buys you "life"  Sandy
