Hi Rosie posie,
for your eggs :bouquet:
I think  it's a bad year for incubators  :o , OH only managed 2 hatchings from 14 eggs. Do you
think it could be this freak weather knocking the thermostats to pot?
what make is your incubator?

We had a great hatch at 37.8 -all early. So have you candled them Rosie?

Think a hens body temperature is 41, so 38.4 is not miles out or on the cooking side (assuming temperature reading is correct).

Thanks BB :)

my incy is a Brinsea 20, I've probably used it for 10 or so hatches. The weather could affect it I guess, but the incy sat next to it is still bob on at 37.6.... ???

ooooh Chris! I hope there's still a chance! I will have to wait till tonight to candle them, wish me luck.
I will still stop the turners today and add some water to the troughs just in case....fingers crossed :)

I've got one of these and I know the fan is meant to circulate the air but just before I put my eggs in I taped a second thermometer to the side of the incy, level with where the eggs would be.  The thermometer in the lid was 37.5 the one on the side was 36 !  (I swopped over the thermometers and got the same reading.)  When I increased the temp so the one in the lid read 38 the one taped to the side went to 37.5.

I have a really unreliable inch and all my hatches came out 2-4 days early and found it was as the temp was 38.6 when the reading said 37.5. Have recalibrated as checked and checked and still getting early hatches!

Oh no, bad news. Hopefully Chris is right and the eggs will be ok. I have hatched eggs successfully from being chilled for a while so maybe it'll work the other way round.

Well the final tally is 9 hatched, one is still in the incy not even pipped, but is alive (not holding out much hope for it now though)

All 9 were a lovely instant family for one of my broodies, she is very pleased with them :)

I will try and find my camera for when she decides to show them to the world :)

Excellent. Give that last one a hand, if it's still alive, nothing to lose. Stop breaking the shell membrane if it bleeds, that tells you it needs a bit longer.
