Hello everybody,
I tripped over this site last year and have been hooked ever since, thought it was about time I registered.
Last year, hubby and I bought an uninhabitable cottage bang in the middle of four acres. Since then, we've been through the planning/ecological/architects/builders mill and been waiting to finally sell our house to release funds for renovation/extension. Despite a number of false starts, we should be moving into the 'van next week (although I won't be holding my breath!)
I've always dreamed of being a farmer - my granny was a farmer, and, even though it's only four acres, it's going to be our little slice of heaven ;) We already have two horses and two dogs, but are very much looking forward to planting an orchard, vegetable garden and 'growing' some chickens ;)

Thank you everyone! Still tearing my hair out after not exchanging yesterday - seems the guy at the bottom of the chain needs a rocket. Suspect that after all the grief we've had, the actual building bit will be a breeze (ever the optimist!)
I'll put a couple of pics up when I work out how to do it ;)

Thanks for the welcome! We finally exchanged on Thursday and consequently spent friday with monumental hangovers ;) We move into the 'van on Friday. Best have a bath while I still can...
As soon as the rain stops threatening, it's warfare on the weeds which have reached about 10ft high. Can't wait!

Hello again
I didn't ignore all your warm welcomes - just didn't realise what a dongle was until two days ago ;) Apparently they plug into your computer and give you mobile internet access. And they work, even from the middle of nowhere. Who knew? Certainly not me anyway. Ha ha, technology, never my forte!
Anyway, to that end, the Hubster and I moved in last Friday. The weeds are a hundred feet high, the build/groundworks prices are coming back waaay over the original estimates and we don't have a telly. It is heaven ;D If anyone wants to have a look, I started a blog about our adventure www.themeadenproject.wordpress.com (http://www.themeadenproject.wordpress.com) - it doesn't have many pics up yet (er, don't know how to upload them) but I'm planning to do a bit as and when something either momentous or mundane happens. Can't believe we're finally starting.
