Thats a pretty good price - current market prices are pretty good due to a lack of supply and the weakness of the pound.

We sold a hoggett in January - 42kg for £67 and were pleased with it. So the prices at The Relic's market are better than that.

Answer.....better than they have for 25 years!!!

Last year the same lamb would have been £35-40 at best

At last years lamb sale at Stornoway auction mart, the best suffolk cross lambs made £32.  Some of the smaller blackfaces made £8!  Just 3 buyers, all pals, all travel to the mart together.

PS. we sell direct for the freezer!

they are not 2 bad so. couple of weeks before we sold ewes with young lambs for £90-£120 and i'm sure 40kg lambs were going for near the £100 mark. we brought 1 dodgy ewe down got £4 for her.

It largely due to the weakness of the pound that prices are so good.
